Gregator vs Claude

Pick Claude when you want a capable general assistant for writing, analysis, coding, and research across the web and your connected tools. Pick Gregator when you want to learn a topic and would rather receive a researched, saved course with footnoted sources, a view of source quality, quizzes, and a tutor than build that structure yourself in a chat.

What Claude does well

Claude is a broad assistant. Anthropic's pricing page lists, on the Free plan, chat on web, desktop, and mobile; web search; creating files and running code; memory across conversations; connections to your apps and tools; Artifacts; voice mode; and Claude Design, Slides, and Docs. Free includes up to five Projects.

Paid plans add Research. Anthropic's help center describes it as Claude investigating a question in depth through a series of searches that build on each other, across the web and connected tools such as Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs. Research is available on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise.

For learners, Anthropic's education page describes a learning mode that works like a tutor: it asks questions that help you find the answers yourself. Memory lets Claude carry context from earlier chats into new ones.

If your learning depends on your own context, such as notes in Google Docs or a reading list in your email, Claude can bring that in. Gregator researches the open web only.

How Gregator works differently

Gregator takes a topic and returns a course. It plans 1 to 12 chapters sized to the topic, each with an objective and 3 to 6 search queries. Research runs across seven search providers, including arXiv and Wikipedia. Up to 18 sources per chapter are extracted, at most 4 from one domain, and each chapter is written from its 7 most relevant sources under a domain and perspective diversity cap.

Each source is classified by type (peer-reviewed, institutional, journalism, community) and evidence quality, with positive signals such as methodology or data and flags such as marketing language or missing citations. The learner sees this as a trust overview per course and as source and peer-reviewed counts per chapter, not as a score per source.

Chapters run about 700 to 1,200 words, use inline footnote citations placed after the claims they support, and end with key takeaways and a Sources list. On a topic the planner marks as contested, the research searches for criticism, and each position is presented with citations. A course-level review checks for redundancy, forward references, difficulty spikes, coherence gaps, and one-sided sourcing, and revises the chapters it flags.

The course is built to be studied. Each chapter has up to five multiple-choice questions with an explanation for every option, and a final quiz covers the course. Answers are graded on the server, and a wrong answer links back to the chapter section. Greg, the tutor, reads your chapters, can search the course and the web, remembers what you tell it, and can offer a deep dive that adds a chapter. Progress is tracked per chapter and course, with recommendations for what to learn next.

When to choose Claude

When to choose Gregator

Gregator is narrower than Claude by design. It cannot read your files, has no PDF export, and has no native app. It is for one job, turning a topic into a course you can study and check, and the Free plan includes three courses to test it.
